Reactions to AI ( Artificial Intelligence)

If you read the article on AI we wrote for www.laterlife.com we posed the mix of light-hearted and serious questions below.

    • Could you tell the difference between a human in a call centre answering questions by email and an AI application?
    • Would you prefer to be bathed and toileted by an AI robot or a human in your old age?
    • Could you befriend an AI robot if it showed empathy?
    • Could an AI application and/or robot do your job or the one you used to do?
    • Could Government be replaced by AI?
    • Would political robots have to be barred from answering questions?

Whether you read the article or not, what do you think?

My answer to some of the questions:

    1. Probably not.

    2. A robot providing it had soft hands.

    3. Yes.

    4. I'm not sure but I don't think so. I need to know more about AI before I could be definite.

    5. No-one would know the difference.

    6. No politicians ever answer questions anywhere, so it would probably not make much difference.

I would be interested to know how many of us would be happy to be driven by a self-drive car. In a recent You Gov survey, a clear majority of people said that they wouldn't. At this stage, I don't think I would be but, again, I need to know more about it.

    1. Only by the typos the human makes

    2. Got to be a human, if only for the conversation

    3. Well, people befriend dogs

    4. As a programmer - yes; as a manager - no

    5. Government could be usefully augmented by AI

    6. Yes, unless John Humphreys is replace by a robot
