At this stage, I have one comment to make and that refers to strategy 4. I don't believe that operating via companies would improve the situation at all. In fact, if properties are managed by a faceless bureaucratic, purely profit-orientated company, it could well turn out a lot worse - whether these companies are regulated or not. I think very often the personal touch that someone who owns just one or two rented properties can bring is very often a bonus for a tenant and can help them feel more at home and secure. less
There is an on-going Housing Crisis caused by the rapidly escalating price of homes over a long period of time, making owning a home unaffordable for many of our children. This document has been superseded by the 'Considered proposal' document Housing...
David SinclairThat's a good summary of the situation. I have one question and that is this: Why are we, in the UK, fixated on owning our own home when for much of Europe this is not true? I have one question and that is this: Why are we, in the UK, fixated on owning our own home when for much of Europe this is not true? It would be good to hear from someone who lives/has lived in one of these countries to see what their take on it is.

You've tackled the Why, Who, Where and When, but not the What of AI (or IA). The term is banded about a lot at the moment but I wondered if you had any particular scope in mind. Amazon's 'Customers who bought this item also bought ....' was cited as an example of AI in a recent radio broadcast, but your article focuses on jobs that can be replaced by AI. Thank you for including my counter-argument. Googling suggests to me that the world is split 50/50 between your view and mine, so a good issue for Probably42 to cut its teeth on. less

Tony ClackThanks Geoff, meant to say that I hadn't thought about the 'What' aspect. I suspect there is a lot of misuse of the term AI among the media and I don't believe the Amazon example of 'Customers who bought this........' is actually AI. rather than address this in a comment response I think it might be worth writing it as a separate document. I'll add a link when I've done it. Tony

It's very good and there's nothing to add to Geoff's comments. The navigation is easy and it follows a clear pattern and is logical. So all in all, the whole thing is a success!

Still worth reading this but there is now a fuller document prepared as a submission to the House of Lords Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence. Just scan the documents in the Proposals section to view it.
